John McCain makes me physically ill. Being called a hero for refusing his release from the POW camp while the rest of the guys were to stay was not heroic but the duty of an officer and especially a wing commander.
I honestly don't know what I would do based on my lifes experiences upto my mid-20's. I had not experienced much other than humiliation, intimidation, and fear to that point.
John McCain was at the bottom of his class at Annapolis despite his father and grandfather both being high ranking naval officers with at least one attaining the rank of admiral.
How does he get to be wing commander? Nepotism? Well, for just graduating he deserves some credit, but, for the navy to somehow say the classroom and his youth had not shown his mettle and his performance in the cockpit had is to me nonsense. He was shot down for goodness sakes. He sucked in the classroom and wasn't much better in the cockpit and because he refused to come home and leave his fellows behind he is heralded as a hero. I don't buy it.
When he repudiated Mike Gallagher, on the Presidential campaign trail, for the introduction that invoked the middle name of his opponent; Hussain, i knew I had seen enough of this man.
His work in Congress was detrimental to the Country as well as if not moreso to the Party he represented. His involvement in the Lincoln Savings and Loan scandal where gobs of cash went to him/his campaign from a guy who was milking the S&L for every luxury and convenience other peoples money could buy. McCain got a letter in his file.
